I have never considered myself a ‘blogger,’ although I have written the captions for a family website in the past. My mother’s father was a printer in Santa Ana , California in the 1930’s. He also wrote a weekly religion column for the local paper, as well as a weekly “sermonette” for the Santa Ana local churches. His son/my uncle, my sister, my son, and the daughters of my cousin from the same grandfather) all are writers. I can teach a fifth grader to formulate a 5-paragraph essay without batting an eye, so I thought I myself have the writing gene, as well. I know I have a lot to say, just ask my family. My writing credits (other than countless papers for college) are ‘Letters to the Editor” of those highly esteemed periodicals of our time - People and TV Guide magazines, and a few drama sketches and video scripts used in our church services, and now here. In looking at blogging, I guess it is just similar to desktop publishing a novel no major house would say ‘yes’ to, YouTube et al. for frustrated movie makers who can not seem to get a foot in the door in Hollywood, video podcasting for those who want to sit around the writers’ table & crank out next week’s network sitcom episode, or even a record deal with major label. Blogging is the new way to get out an opinion or ideas and to be heard (or read). I hope what I write will have some interest to someone. I do not plan to write daily about a recipe I made from Julia Child’s cookbook or on the daily events of world events – just thoughts and ponderings from a life lived. Moreover, if I do not stop this diatribe, I will never get to my second post.
It is with this I say ‘thank you’ to Julie, Melissa, Terry, Tyson, and Glenn.
